So,   you have your NEW puppy,   of approx 9 weeks old

you have 24 hours to Activate Trupaninon Puppy Insurance.
Ideally  this is to be done, prior to pup pick up
1.   Eating:
Most puppies eat approx  1 cup of Kibble (Royal Canin Puppy small breed, small bites kibble), (target'd weight Rations on bag)  leave food out, or give and take 3x a day..  Take food and water away  at 5-6 pm.  Some puppies do not eat well for the first few days,  do NOT Coax with different types of food,  hand feed kibble,  try soaking with some warm water. Newly homed pups eat about 1/2 rations for the first few days.      (If your puppy gets the Runs,  Call the Breeder asap.)
Puppy  Will sleep from 11pm,  till 6 am, in his/her crate beside your bed.
(foods to be 25% protein  approx,  23-26, not 30-40%), Chicken Meal and rice is what we use,   never  prime cuts of meat and blueberry food.
                                                                                   Pups have only had Chicken meal,  but can slowly change to Salmon Meal, or Lamb meal as other options.

2.   Grooming:
Brush then comb your puppy  every day, or every other day,   clip the nails weekly.  ( Clippers or Drumel Tool )Bathing can be daily, weekly,  every two weeks as long as you use good quality dog shampoo,  and Rinse very very well.  Pup is used to a blowdryer as well.  YES YES<  you can get clean water in eyes and ears,    just like when you have a shower....  I let the water run right between the eyes,  not hitting the nose.

3.   POTTY. (read the links on previous page).
Do NOT pick your puppy up to go to the door,   or they learn nothing,  make them walk to the door,  (Teach them to walk to the same door,  every couple hours.,  Do NOT  ever treat your puppy for going potty with anything but Praise,  (there are important reasons),  USE the crate, when you cannot supervise 100%.  Your puppy is potty trained in a large room, and is ready to be  House Trained, at 9 weeks.

4.   TOYS + puppy biting:
Bull Sticks are most recommended  CHEW toy,   do NOT ever EVER !!!!! let your puppy chew on your fingers or feet.   remember the two ways I showed you to stop this.  and STOP it.  Hold puppy on his back every day to show you are the parents.  Pups love toys that Crinkle.

5.   CRATE,
Crate and more Crate....(we have taught this to avoid separation anxiety.  Crate pup often, and when you go out,  when you make dinner,   and eat, and clean up.   Whenever pup has not pottied outside, back in the crate.    100% supervision for the first weeks is so important on how long it takes to house train,  NO puppy pads in the house,  pup was 90%  going outside to potty  before leaving our home/kitchen.   You can set up an xpen, and puppy pads,  potty station just outside your door, or on your deck.   PUp is also doggy Door trained, and great for appartments,  to potty out on the deck.
The safest place for a puppy in the care is belted in back seat in hard crate,   the largest cause of fatality is not being in an accident,  but when someone comes to assist you,  they open your door, an the pup is running in traffic,  they also make some awesome car seats, and harness,  to secure them in a vehicle.

6.   Vet,  Shots, worming, Fleas
your puppy comes with First set of shots, and Full Vet exam,  done at 8 weeks.  you need to book  12 and 16 week shots,  and then you are good for a year.    Remember,
1st set of shots,  give NO protection.  Pup can potty in your yard, and walk down the middle of the road,  avoiding the grass areas,  used by other dogs in your neighborhood.
2nd set of shots gives pups minimal protection but they can be around friends dogs, adn dogs you KNOW have had shots,  including puppy classes,  as all pups must have 2 sets of shots,
After 3rd sets of shots,  your pup can go anywhere.   Be careful of off leash dog parks,  where owners of Larger and unruly dogs, often take them,  there have been several attacks on small dogs.     I recommend taking an x pen,  and separating your dog to a corner  if you want to socialize them more,   Better yet,  take them to a park, with kids and people and a few other dogs.
WORMING:  should be done  at 12 and 16 weeks as well, and then every  6 months.
Flea protection  can be discussed with the Vet,    3month stuff, Revolution or Advantage.
NOTE for Vet checks:  Before your pup is examined,  ask the vet how he is going to check the patella's. and ask him NOT to try and pop them out,  that is NOT the right procedure for checking pups patella's and can damage them.  Shots are to be given in the void area of the withers,  making a tent,  drawing back on the syringe  to make sure not in a vein.  Not given in leg muscle either.

7.  Support:
ALWAYS  call or email your breeder for  even the tiniest of questions,  NO question is silly...  Your Breeder is there for you.  If things are not working, and you think you made a wrong decision to get a puppy,  the Breeder is MORE than happy to take the puppy back,  or give you   TECH support and guidance.

8.  Leash or Harness;
I always recommend a leash,  as does obedience classes,  BUT,  if your young child is walking and there is a chance of pulling on the Throat,  the Trachea can be damaged,  and for those reasons a Harness is better.   A leash gives you more control and teaching to heal, and a harness is meant for a dog to walk in front of you.   NEVER EVER EVER !!!

9.  Treats:
We like PURE treats, and not too many, or your puppy will not eat.  (NO TREATS for the First Week.   I do 1/4 vitamin as a treat daily, and  training treats,  (pure chicken TINY pieces),  to teach walking on lead and sit.  Dogs to not need Treats daily,  as kids do not need, Candy and smarties daily.  Over treating,  can make them fussy eaters.   Read the ingredients on the treat label,   I like Dehydrated chicken or duck,  or Freeze dried,  pure meat.   OR make your own Chicken French fries, and freeze them.  As they get older,   Dehydrated liver is good as well, but not now.  (pup has only been introduced to Chicken)

10. Travel +  Cuddles;
ANY WAY  you cuddle is the right way. !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ferry:   do not take pup to common area's to potty,   the family bathroom is a great spot, or on a pee pad in the back of your vehicle.

Plane:

Vehicle:

except:   No pups on Beds,  kids beds,   the incidence of puppies falling off beds, and breaking bones, is Higher than ever.  Beds are higher, and hardwood floors more common.
